Education
Led by Shanika Turner, the Education Committee focuses on eliminating racial disparities in public education by advocating for equitable resources, fair discipline practices, culturally relevant curriculum, and college and career readiness to ensure students of color have equal opportunities to succeed.
Armed Services Veterans Affairs
Chaired by Leon Ijames, this committee advocates for fair treatment, equal access to benefits, and improved well-being for veterans, service members, and their families, with a focus on addressing challenges faced by Black and minority veterans.


Political Action
Led by Ryan O. Turner, the Political Action Committee works to protect voting rights, increase voter registration, combat discriminatory legislation, and promote civic engagement by supporting policies and candidates that advance racial equity and justice.
Religious Affairs
Chaired by Dr. Rev. Deland Myers, this committee collaborates with faith leaders and religious institutions to educate congregations about the NAACP’s mission, connect moral leadership to social justice issues, and strengthen faith-based advocacy efforts.


Communications and Publicity
Chaired by Evie Myers, this committee promotes NAACP initiatives through media outreach, public relations, and social media engagement while working to combat bias, ensure fair representation, and amplify positive narratives within the community.
Economic Development
Led by Cortney Hayden, the Economic Development Committee works to advance economic equity by promoting Black entrepreneurship, expanding employment opportunities, supporting business and home ownership, and addressing racial disparities in wealth through advocacy and strategic partnerships.


Membership
Chaired by Dorothy Woodard, the Membership Committee focuses on increasing and maintaining branch membership by organizing recruitment campaigns, securing renewals, and encouraging community members to become actively engaged in advancing the NAACP’s mission.
Freedom Fund Banquet
Led by Dorothy Woodard, the Freedom Fund Banquet Committee oversees planning and execution of the branch’s annual Freedom Fund Banquet, a historic fundraising event that supports the operations, programs, and advocacy efforts of the Statesville NAACP.


Legal Redress
Led by Eric Todd Scott, Sr., the Legal Redress Committee investigates discrimination complaints involving employment, housing, education, and other civil rights issues, provides mediation, and connects individuals with legal resources and advocacy support.
Youth Work
Chaired by Pamela Johnson, the Youth Work Committee develops informed, empowered youth leaders by providing education on social, political, and economic issues affecting communities of color, while fostering leadership skills, civic engagement, and community involvement.
